Summer's Over And Our Pumpkins Are Getting Ripe

Life drawing sessions will finish for 2012 on 1 November. Sad times I know, but this year we are going out with a bang, courtesy of those seasonally spooky, Salacious Sirens. Burlesque meets life drawing at The Cambria once again, in a spankingly good Halloween special. I just hope your hands won't be shaking too much to draw!

Oh! What A Wonderful Wilderness

I utterly fell in love with Wilderness. What a beautiful place to pitch The Drawing Room tent and so many lovely people came to visit over the weekend. Business may be back to normal but I will never forget our little drawing paradise in the middle of the Oxford Wilds.

Here is a sample of the many wonderful drawings that were created over the weekend:

And finally, possibly my favourite photo - the youngest ever guests of the drawing room...who also happened to be fantastically talented...

I already can't wait for next year x

Into The Wilderness

It's official! On 10th - 12th August The Drawing Room will be packing up its paper and pencils, and setting up tent in the wilds of Oxfordshire, as part of this years Wilderness Festival. Visitors to The Drawing Room will be treated to an intimate drawing experience, set in a beautifully dressed space to the sounds of classic artists such as Ella Fitzgerald and Louid Armstrong. Visit alone or with a few friends and let our team of models and hostesses help you unwind and find your inner artist. The perfect little retreat for those who find themselves lost in the wilderness this summer.

A Bit Of An Exhibitionist

We had lots of fun getting busy with our tools yesterday, as we put up the first ever Drawing Room exhibition in the beautiful Cambria Pub. Adorning the walls until the 26th July 2012 are a selection of life drawings produced at the pub over the last year and a half. Thank you so much to everyone who contributed work, helped with the installation, and most of all a massive thank you to all you lovely people who came and got drunk last night to celebrate art and naked people everywhere!

Hurry Up Halloween!

OK, I lied. I said I was all frilled out, but the truth is I just can't stop thinking those Salacious Sirens. Luckily the girls are already booked in to do a Halloween special at The Drawing Room, on the 1st November 2012, and are sure to have some spooky tricks up their sleeves for this one. I just cannot wait till it's time to get our pumpkins out once again.

All Frilled Out

Wow! Those Salacious Sirens have done it again. The music, the poses, the humour, the tease, and those tassles! So many delightful elements all rolled in to one fabulous fun filled night of life drawing and burlesque - a frill seekers delight. Yet again they had us laughing, whooping and furiously scribbling.. not to mention the bubble blowing! Violet Empire, Ottolie Divine, Lady Libertine and Bebe Boheme really must be four of the most stunning, beautiful and marvelously mischievous muses in town. Well done ladies!

The Sirens will be back at The Drawing Room soon and in the meantime you can keep up with them on their blog: Salacious Sirens.

The excitement has all been too much. I, for one, am all frilled out and am off for a little nap.

Life Drawing With Added Frills

Here's the new poster for the new Added Frills night on 21 June 2012 featuring those ever so lovely Salacious Sirens. It's a burlesque meets life drawing bonanza! See you there x

Ps. The venue is small so wear your best perfume and be prepared to squash up.

Tell Everyone You Know

Every Thursday at The Cambria in Camberwell, I, Betty, host the most delightful life drawing night. Set to beautiful music, in ever such extravagant surroundings, it really is a treat if I do say so myself. The regulars have turned into friends and the drawing often turns to drinking; perhaps the two are related.

All are welcome so spread the word and tell everyone you know...your presence is duly requested at The Drawing Room.

Everybody Loves A Picnic

It's hard to believe that summer is on its way with all this chilly weather, but it is! And along with summer comes many delights including picnics. Everybody loves a picnic and I am no exception. This summer I will be shaking off my blankets and dusting off my hampers in preparation for a little al-fresco life drawing, picnic style.

On Saturday 16th June The Drawing Room will bring you 'Posing In The Park',  in Westow Park as part of The Crystal Palace Overground Festival. There will be music, models, pencils, and posing. We might even crack open the Pimms and cucumber sandwiches. All you have to bring is your lovely selves.

(The picnic can, however, only go ahead if the weather is good, so cross your trotters and pray for sunshine.)

Thank You Tim Draper

Just one more thank you to the very talented Tim Draper who tip toed around in his socks so elegantly at the Added Frills show and photographed the whole thing.

A Feast For The Eyes

The dramatic moment when Violet Empire poises herself ready to plunge a kitchen knife into the succulent body of Ottolie Divine, in the chilling and hilarious, Cannibal Cafe.

Well And Truely Frilled...

What an amazing night Added Frills turned out to be. The Salacious Sirens had us laughing, whooping, perspiring and squirming in our seats, and what a delight those ladies are to draw! Beautifully put together music, poses and performances running seamlessly into each other, a fantastic turnout, this really was the best Life Drawing With Added Frills yet, thanks to those ever so talented sirens.

For those of you who missed out, and those of you who just cannot wait to do it all over again, the ladies will be back with us again in the summer and you can find out more about their other up and coming gigs here: salacioussirens.blogspot.co.uk

If you managed to make it down to the show thoroughly enjoyed yourself, why not take a moment to jot down your thoughts in my guest book

Thank you to everyone who made the night so special,

Betty x
